Orange County Medicare Insurance Representation
Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is a program that provides benefits for qualified individuals who have suffered an injury or are living with a condition that will not allow them to work. There is a specific process that needs to be followed in order to receive benefits. Be sure that you have an experienced lawyer on your side who will work to ensure that your interests are protected.
At the law firm of Bohm Matsen, LLP, our California & National SSDI attorneys represent clients in a wide variety of these cases from filing the initial application through the entire appeals process, if necessary. We have a complete understanding of the law in these cases, and we are committed to helping you obtain a positive result.
Qualifying for SSDI
If you were working and getting a regular paycheck, you were paying into Social Security. In order to qualify for SSDI, your disability must be expected to last at least 12 months or result in death. In addition, you must have worked 5 years out of the 10 years prior to the onset of your disability. This timeframe may vary depending on your age. You will continue to be eligible to apply for SSDI benefits for five years after you stop working.
Once you begin receiving benefits, you will receive a monthly check. The amount of the check will depend on how long you worked and how much you made. You will also be eligible for Medicare insurance as part of your benefits. Our attorneys will take the time to fully explain the available benefits, eligibility and how to go about getting them.
